About Surrey

Set in the market town of Guildford, half an hour by train from central London, the University of Surrey offers a calm, self-contained campus for summer language studies. Teaching rooms, residences, sports facilities and dining are all within a short walk of each other on a green hillside site, with the Surrey Hills on the doorstep and the capital close enough for regular excursions.

Students learn in smart classrooms with a student lounge, library and study areas, computer lab and cafeteria on site, and playing fields and lakeside green space right outside the door. The University of Surrey received its royal charter in 1966, having grown out of the Battersea Polytechnic Institute in London, and moved to its present Stag Hill campus in Guildford in 1968. It is known for its close links with industry and for its professional training placement year.

Guildford is a historic market town in the Surrey countryside, just half an hour by train from central London. The Surrey Hills are on the doorstep and the capital is close enough for regular excursions, so students get the calm of a self-contained green campus with London's double-decker buses, royal palaces, museums and markets within easy reach for full-day and half-day trips.
